The non-profit PRATT Fine Arts Center is a dynamic amalgamation of studios, artists, youths, adults and of course art. With an incredibly broad range of programs and areas of study PRATT needed an extensive master planning exercise to determine their current and future space needs. Stuart Silk Architects spent a great deal of time interviewing staff, watching artists work and inventorying equipment to help PRATT evaluate not just space needs but their ability to greatly expand their program offering over the next ten years.

Stuart Silk prepared a programming study for approximately 34,000 SF of studio and administrative space. We also prepared several test fit scenarios for a 20,000 SF expansion that was to include two hot glass studios, two warm glass studios, cold glass working, two jewelry studios, one metal work studio, and printmaking studio with darkroom and print press facility. The expansion was to also house a new 1,200SF multi purpose area, and school store, and the main administrative office.

This programming exercise has become a visual blueprint for guiding PRATT into the future as they expand their outreach to include more youth programming and greater access for professional artists to rent facilities. Stuart Silk Architects is proud to be a small part of the dynamic and invaluable PRATT community.
