Stuart Silk Architects worked with the Salvation Army to convert two existing apartment units into a satellite office facility with a children's recreation area. This tenant improvement project is part of a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The playful finishes and open floor plan contribute to an enjoyable environment for under-privileged children to learn, play, and relax.

The 620 square foot office allows 6 staff members to work collaboratively while monitoring children's activities in the 600 square foot recreation space. The children's recreation room consists of a large kitchen, space for arts and crafts projects, a play area, and an internet station for educational activities. The project team, consisting entirely of volunteers, played a key role in making this important project an enormous success.
