John Adams, Associate

John Adams brings to Stuart Silk Architects a wide range of commercial and institutional project experience.  John’s past experience has included projects for the Economic Development Corporation of New York, Deutsch Inc. Advertising, and Washington Mutual Bank.  He has completed projects in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Seattle.  Of particular note, he was associate-in-charge for the Deutsch Advertising offices in Los Angeles.  Deutsch LA was named winner of the International Interior Design Association’s  “Decade of Design Competition 1994 – 2004.”

John was instrumental in the design of the Whitehall Ferry Terminal in Manhattan, coordinating the design of the curtain wall system and overseeing the project cost-estimating effort.  In Seattle, he has worked on a number of restaurant and bar projects including Brouwer’s Cafe in the Fremont neighborhood. John has also executed a number of luxury residential projects giving him the experience of creating compelling designs while still realizing cost and functionality goals.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in design of the environment from the University of Pennsylvania, John obtained his master’s of architecture with high distinction from the University of Michigan.

John and his wife Anne get their hands dirty remodeling their own home while raising their daughter Allison.  Whenever possible he takes up fly fishing in Michigan, but more typically reads avidly about theoretical physics and tries to cook the perfect rack of barbecued ribs.
