Located at the top of a parched ravine in the arid region of Eastern Washington, this property is characterized by rugged cliffs and outcroppings with softly rolling hills in the background. Integrating the rugged and stark qualities of the site, the architecture provides a seamless bridge between the natural and the manmade. Several outside terraces become extensions of the interior living spaces. This is achieved through the use of stone walls, some with sloping roofs, set against asymmetrically shaped hip roofs. These low-sloping roofs mirror the soft curves of rolling hills while the stone walls simulate the rugged cliffs nearby.
