Community ResponsibilityCommunity Involvement Charitable Giving Mission StatementAt Stuart Silk Architects, we are committed to and believe in the importance of supporting non-profit organizations that strive to increase the quality of life for families and children in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Below are a few of the organizations we donate to on an annual basis: The 1% Program - Stuart Silk Architects sees great value in supporting non-profit organizations financially but also in providing our knowledge and services. To provide services we have pledged to donate 1% of our office staff hours to pro-bono work as a part of The 1% Program. The 1% Program is run by the non-profit Public Architecture organization and endeavors to connect non-profits with architecture and design firms willing to give of their time pro bono. Childhaven - Located in Seattle and King County, Childhaven intervenes during the most critical period of brain development for children one month through five years of age, who receive the therapy, social interaction and emotional support they need to grow up happy and healthy. Parents and caregivers are also given the support and encouragement they need to become the families they want to be. Solid Ground - Founded in 1974 by community leaders and concerned citizens of one of Seattle's then most economically devastated neighborhoods, Fremont. Originally called the Fremont Public Association, their services - emergency food bank, clothing bank, and employment program - reflect the desperate needs and the determined response of a mobilized and committed neighborhood. Salvation Army Housing and Homeless Services - Family service programs that help families and needy individuals with emergency food, housing, utility assistance and other temporal needs. LILIR Education Project - The Liliir Education Project seeks to promote and enhance literacy and education in war torn Southern Sudan. The Liliir Education Project is addressing the fundamental issues behind the vast educational injustice and inequality in Southern Sudan by: building a secondary school and providing scholarships to disadvantaged students that will allow them to attend private universities in Kenya and Uganda. Habitat for Humanity - Habitat for Humanity transforms lives and the community by building, repairing and renovating homes for people in need and by uniting efforts around the cause of affordable housing. Heart Walk - The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premiere event for raising funds to save lives from this country's No. 1 and No. 3 killers - heart disease and stroke. Summer Search - Summer Search is a high-impact program that gives low-income students the opportunities and support they need to transform their lives, achieve their own potential, and create change as role models and everyday leaders. We also support organizations that strive to preserve and sustain our envirnoment: Celp - Center for Environmental Law and Policy - Working to make substantial progress toward the protection and restoration of Washington's water resources. LEED for Homes - LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. |
