About This Project

About Lakeshore Residence

This home is located on the shores of Lake Washington in a quiet in-city neighborhood with expansive views of the Cascades and Mt. Rainier.  Our clients asked us to design a timeless, enduring structure that was distinctly contemporary with a quiet yet powerful presence. They desired interiors that were warmly minimal and had a strong relationship with the outdoors.  Stone was the ideal cladding material to provide the long-term durability and performance that our clients expected.

Exterior details were reduced to their bare essential to reinforce the design’s modern sensibility.  Many sustainable features were integrated into the home, including a geo-thermal heating and cooling system and exceptionally insulated walls and roof. The result is a home that is striking for both its simplicity of form as well as its spare energy requirements. This home won the 2010 Masonry Institute of Washington Honor Award for Excellence in Masonry Design.
